Coffee Boat Swim

It’s time for our annual swim to Coffee Afloat, the barge which serves coffee on the Lake Dunstan Trail. We’ll meet in Cromwell and carpool to the start of the swim. Then we swim downstream to the boat, have a coffee and a bite to eat. Afterwards there’s the option to swim or catch a boat directly back across the lake. Finally we’ll dispatch people to get the cars left at the start, and head back home!

When?

Saturday 13th April 2024

The weather is usually more settled on Lake Dunstan, so we’re not arranging a backup day. But if the weather is awful, we will cancel. We’ll keep you informed during the week before.

How far?

2km swim downstream, 800m across.

Swimming down towards the Clyde Dam is super easy, swimming back ‘upstream’ is very tough.

How warm?

Probably about 14°C

Who can come?

Open to all, but you must be a SLSC member. Sign up for membership here.

What shall I bring?

All your normal swim gear, plus:

  • Bring a warm top to wear on the coffee boat. Put that either in your tow float, which acts like a dry bag or we can put on the boat.
  • Bring cash or cards to pay for coffee.

How do I sign up?
